Booking and Information Guide

** If you are unable to complete you Reshealth prior to your medical appointment time, we are unable to access this due to the way the system works. Any medicals cancelled/rescheduled on the day due to Reshealth not being completed prior will incur full fee for the medical. **

**If you need a copy of your Coal Board Medical examination results for a new employer or for any other reason, you can request a copy through the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy's Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) website. The RSHQ website provides information on how to request copies of your Coal Board Medical examination results, including the forms you need to fill out and submit. Booking a Medical:

  • To book a coal board medical please call 07 4941 7268 OPTION 2 or alternatively you can use our online booking link above - category Occupational Health. Please note that a Section 1 from your EMPLOYER is required before initiating a medical and if not received a medical will not be completed on the day, you will be responsible for the full amount of the medical on the day ($380+) for the appointment slot.

  • To book a Coalboard Medical as of 01/04/2023 you will need to access Reshealth as the Employer and Worker before we are able to see the medical and provide the HA (Health Assessment) number to us via an email confirmation. (Step-by-step guide below)

  • Please ensure that you allocate the correct Examining medical Officer when you have confirmed your booking through Reshealth and that the AMA is allocated and all follow-up regarding the Section 4 is directed to the AMA that has been allocated.

  • Coalboard medical and Coalboard Medical review the booking process below

  • Extensions will be actioned according to the Review Process below

  • Name Changes - Processed the same as Review process Below - Assuming that Oaktree completed the original medical and the medical is not older than 2 years, RSHQ consent to release previous medical from the RSHQ may be required from the Worker to proceed. If we do have the medical we are able to upload our original version on file with the changes.


Full Coalboard Medical:

  • To book a Full Coalboard Medical - (from 01/04/2023)

    • Employer: Create a new Section 1 request via ResHealth

    • Employer: Select a New Health assessment

    • Employer: Set AMA as Dr Swenson or if external set to AMA

    • Employer: Set Examining medical officer to The Oaktree Family Medical Centre

    • Employer: Email HA number to medicals@oaktreemedical.com.au

      • In the email provide: HA number, Appointment date, Surname, Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number

        • Optional: Request Chest X-ray referral for ILO B-read (for expedited timings, it is better to have the chest x-ray done prior to the appointment)

    • Worker: Fill out Section 2

      • Fill out the request and signup for a Qgov/mygov account from Reshealth as per the Reshealth instruction sent through to you

      • Please note that if Section 2 is not completed by Worker we are unable to complete the medical on the day that the worker will be rescheduled to another day and there will be a full fee payable. Please ensure via the portal that the workers component is completed and/or HR assists the worker in having this completed. We do not have any access or any way to access the medical if this has not been completed.

    • Worker: Send through any additional documentation - eg. Previous respiratory reports/Cardiology letters - to medicals@oaktreemedical.com.au

    • Clinic/EMO/Worker: Conduct physical medical

    • Worker: Complete Chest X-ray (3-7days as urgent in Moranbah)

    • Clinic: Attach 1st Read and B-read to medical via the portal and submit to AMA for review

    • AMA: Review full medical and any uploaded documents

    • AMA: issue Section 4 through Reshealth

    • Clinic: Issue personal review email from AMA to Patient (if any)

    • Worker: Read the review email and follow directions as per requests from AMA before the review date (preferably ASAP - the review date is the last possible date the information is to be requested we recommend having this done earlier)

    • Employer: Check Reshealth for Section 4 and download and send to mine sites

    • Worker/Employer: Congratulations you are now able to work on a mine site


Coalboard Medical Reviews (Company change/Extension):

  • To book a review/setup a review (from 01/04/2023

    • Employer: Create a new Section 1 request via ResHealth

    • Employer: Select Subsequent assessment

    • Employer: Set AMA as Dr. Swenson or if external set to AMA that previously signed off on medical.

    • Employer: Email HA number to medicals@oaktreemedical.com.au

    • Worker: Fill out Section 2

    • Worker: Check the Review Email and see your own GP/book an appointment to have completed eg. Audiometry/Spirometry

    • Worker: Send through required documentation to medicals@oaktreemedical.com.au

    • Worker/Clinic: upload required documents to the portal

    • AMA: Review uploaded documents

    • AMA: issue Section 4 through Reshealth

    • Clinic: Issue review email from AMA to Patient (if any)

    • Employer: Issue Section 4 to the mine site requesting it

    • Worker: Work!

RESHEALTH - What is it?

Reshealth is a government-designed and operated online platform used for booking Coal Board Medical examinations in Queensland, Australia. It is designed to facilitate the process of scheduling medical examinations for coal mine workers and to streamline the administrative tasks associated with managing the results of the examination.

Reshealth is managed by the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy's Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ). The platform allows employers to select an accredited medical practitioner to conduct the examination. It also facilitates the transfer of examination results to the appropriate parties, such as the worker's employer(Section 4 only) or regulatory bodies.

How do I start using ResHealth?

You will need to nominate a super user who will register your company and themselves at the same time. The super user will need to verify their identity. This person will be the administrator for ResHealth and control who can access ResHealth on your company’s behalf.

How do I initiate a health assessment?

Once you or another employee representative are registered in ResHealth you can start a health assessment. You will need the following information to start this process:

  • Employee email address

  • Date of Birth

  • Full legal name

  • Contact phone number.


Description for Employers:

The Coal Mine Workers' Health Scheme requires coal mine workers in Queensland to undergo a Coal Board Medical examination to assess their fitness for work in a coal mine. The requirements for the Coal Board Medical examination may vary depending on the position and duties of the worker, but some general requirements include:

  1. Medical history: The worker must provide a detailed medical history, including information about any pre-existing medical conditions, surgeries, and medications.

  2. Physical examination: The worker must undergo a physical examination that includes tests for vision, hearing, lung function, and cardiovascular health.

  3. Drug and alcohol testing: The worker must undergo drug and alcohol testing to assess their fitness for work in a safety-critical industry. (This is an optional extra and not included in the standard price, but you will require one for your induction - Thanks Tim)

  4. Musculoskeletal assessment: The worker may undergo a musculoskeletal assessment to assess their physical ability to perform their job duties.

  5. Mental health assessment: The worker may undergo a mental health assessment to assess their fitness in a safety-critical industry.

  6. Immunizations: The worker must provide proof of immunization for certain diseases, such as hepatitis B.

Employers may have additional requirements for the Coal Board Medical examination based on the specific job duties and responsibilities of the worker. It is essential for workers to check with their employer to ensure they meet all the necessary requirements for the Coal Board Medical examination.
